01 / Capabilities

What we actually do.

/01 · REVERSE ENGINEERING

Nameplate to drawing

From a photograph of an existing motor plate, we reconstruct the full electrical and mechanical specification. We have the back-catalogue, the design experience and the workshop record to do this for almost every European-built submersible motor of the last forty years.

Every motor can be built exactly to specification. Trident engineers the machine around the existing installation: foundation, shaft end, cable routing and connection dimensions are taken over one to one, so the vessel or plant itself does not change.

  • Nameplate decoding and rating verification
  • Outline dimension capture from existing units
  • Winding scheme reconstruction
  • Bearing and seal cross-referencing
/02 · RETROFIT DESIGN

Form-fit replacement

A retrofit motor has to slot into a vessel that was not designed around it. Mounting bolts, shaft height, terminal position, cooling connections, every interface gets engineered for drop-in fit, even when the internal motor design changes significantly.

  • Drop-in dimensional matching
  • Interface drawings for vessel approval
  • Modernised internals in legacy envelope
  • Updated protection signal routing
/03 · VFD MODERNISATION

Inverter-ready windings

Fixed-speed motors retrofitted with inverter-rated insulation, terminal shielding and bearing protection. Where the vessel is also moving to inverter drive, we coordinate the motor design with the drive specification, du/dt limits, switching frequency, cable length.

  • VFD-rated Class H insulation
  • Shaft grounding and bearing insulation
  • Drive-coordinated winding design
  • Protector reconfiguration
/04 · WORKSHOP & TEST

Finish and verify

Final finishing and testing in the Dordrecht workshop. Every motor goes through a no-load test, a load test, an insulation resistance check and a high-voltage withstand test before it leaves the building. FAT to your specification, optional witness test.

  • No-load and locked-rotor tests
  • HV withstand and PI testing
  • Vibration and sound level
  • Witness FAT on request
/05 · COMMISSIONING

Field support

On-site commissioning support available globally. A Trident engineer joins your team for the installation and the start-up, verifies the protection signal routing, confirms the drive parameters and signs off the commissioning report.

  • Pre-commissioning checks
  • Drive parameter verification
  • Protection signal validation
  • Start-up and load testing
/06 · DOCUMENTATION

Full as-built record

Every motor is delivered with a complete as-built documentation package. Test certificate, as-built dimensional drawing, electrical schematic, protector wiring diagram, recommended spares list, maintenance schedule. Issued in the language and format your class society requires.

  • Test certificate and FAT report
  • As-built mechanical drawings
  • Electrical schematic & protector wiring
  • Class-society compatible format
02 / Workshop capability

Dordrecht workshop.

The TKBS series is engineered, finished and tested in our workshop in Dordrecht. Van Bodegraven has been engineering electric motors continuously since 1898. The current capability envelope.

A workshop is not a marketing claim. It is a set of physical capacities, what you can crane, what you can coat, what you can test. The Dordrecht facility runs continuously from inbound inspection through final test.

For projects outside our workshop envelope, Trident draws on a network of partner facilities across the Netherlands and the wider EU.

ORDER & APPROVAL PROCESS

From order to release.

Trident motors are engineered per project after order placement. The technical documentation goes to your engineers for approval, and manufacturing starts only after that written approval. Six stages, one approval point.

/01

Commercial offer

Application and requirements reviewed. Trident confirms the proposed motor concept is feasible before you commit.

/02

Purchase order & kick-off

You place the order. Final requirements and application data go to Trident Engineering, and all input is checked before design starts.

/03

Engineering

The motor is designed for your application and the driven machine: electrical design, shaft and coupling, flange and bolt pattern, monitoring, materials.

/04

Customer approval · design freeze

The technical package goes to your engineers for review. Comments are worked in; written approval closes the design. No manufacturing before approval.

/05

Manufacturing & testing

Production, assembly, electrical and mechanical testing, quality control and final inspection.

/06

Final release

Documentation completed, test results available, units released for dispatch.

What you approve before production: performance curve and data, rated current and starting data, dimensional drawing with flange and shaft dimensions, coupling, bolt pattern and the complete interface to the driven machine.
Typical lead time is 12 to 16 weeks, build to spec; the committed date is stated in the commercial offer. The date of your written approval starts the production clock. Motors are preferably delivered with cables pre-mounted and factory-tested.
