01 / Workshop flow

From arrival to dispatch.

Six stages from inbound motor to a tested unit on the shipping floor. Each stage has its own sign-off and its own quality record, the motor does not move to the next station without one.

/01 · INBOUND

Inbound inspection

Visual, dimensional and nameplate verification on arrival. Insulation resistance baseline measurement before the motor enters the workshop.

/02 · FINISH

Coating & finishing

Marine paint systems applied to customer or class-society specification. Surface preparation, primer, topcoat, cure under controlled conditions.

/03 · PRE-TEST

Insulation conditioning

Dry-out oven where required. Polarisation index verification, insulation resistance trending before the FAT sequence begins.

/04 · FAT

Factory acceptance test

Full IEC 60034 routine test sequence plus the submersible-specific hydrostatic pressure test. Test certificate issued at sign-off.

/05 · WITNESS

Witness test (optional)

Customer or class society attends the FAT on-site or remote. Joint sign-off, surveyor reports filed directly to the class society.

/06 · DISPATCH

Packaging & dispatch

As-built documentation pack, class-compatible packaging, transport arranged from Dordrecht to vessel or yard.

02 / Test bay capability

Every motor runs before it leaves.

The Dordrecht test bay handles the complete IEC 60034 routine test sequence plus the additional submersible-specific tests. Standard test set on every motor. Extended tests on request or by class society requirement.

The test sequence is the same whether the motor is 100 kW or 7000 kW. The difference is the duration and the energy. Larger machines need longer temperature-rise runs to reach steady state, and a higher-rated supply.

Test reports are issued in the format your specification or class society requires. IEC, ABS, DNV, BV, Lloyd's, RINA, KR, CCS, RS.

No-load testIEC 60034-1
Verification of no-load current, no-load losses and operating temperature at no-load conditions.
Locked-rotor testIEC 60034-1
Measurement of locked-rotor current, locked-rotor torque, locked-rotor losses and short-circuit impedance.
Insulation resistanceIEC 60034-27 / IEEE 43
IR measurement at 500 V or 1000 V depending on voltage rating. Polarisation index for stator winding condition.
High-voltage withstandIEC 60034-1
AC withstand test at 2×Un + 1000 V for one minute. Verification of insulation system integrity.
Temperature riseIEC 60034-1
Full-load temperature rise to thermal equilibrium. Verification against Class H insulation limit.
VibrationISO 10816-3
Mechanical vibration measurement on the motor frame. Verification against vibration severity class.
Sound levelISO 1680
Sound pressure level measurement at no-load, where required by specification.
Pressure testSubmersible-specific
Hydrostatic test of the motor shell and seals at 1.5× rated submersion pressure. Mandatory for Type II deep sea motors.
Protection sensor functionTrident standard
Five-zone protection signal verification. Each protector input simulated and verified at the motor terminal.
03 / Witness testing

Watch your motor run before shipping.

A witness test is standard practice on most Trident projects. Three options for how it can be done, depending on the class society requirements, the customer travel budget and the urgency.

/01

On-site witness

You travel to Dordrecht. The motor is run on the test bay in your presence. Test results signed off jointly. Standard option for class-society witness tests.

/02

Remote witness

Video conference connection to the test bay. Live instrument feeds plus camera views of the motor and the test panel. Documented sign-off by remote signature.

/03

Class society witness

Test attended by ABS, DNV, BV, Lloyd's, RINA or other class surveyor. Coordinated by Trident; surveyor reports filed directly to the class society.

04 / Workshop visit

Want to see the workshop?

Customers, prospects and class surveyors are welcome to visit the Dordrecht workshop. We schedule visits around the production calendar to make sure there is something on the test bay to look at.
